Three types of Funds

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of IIMAS, three special types of Funds have been created, of varying amounts and meeting different needs.
We named them after the main figures of the Urkesh court, as they are known to us from their seals found in the Royal Palace of Tupkish.

The Prince’s Fund: publication

This Fund, in the amount of $8,000, covers the costs of a monograph publication, either as a digital or as a printed book.

The first Prince's Fund is for the publication of the digital book on Urkesh ceramics in memory of Bill Orrange.

The Queens’s Fund: fellowship and publication

A Queen's Fund, in the amount of $35,000, covers
  • the costs of a named research fellowship, to be aknowledged in the CV of the individual chosen for the fellowship, and recorded in our website, and

Four Queen's Funds have been established, named after four distinguished scholars who were on our Board of scientific advisors and have since passed away. They were established with special Funds made available through the Balzan Prize awarded in 2021 to Giorgio Buccellati and Marilyn Kelly-Buccellati.

The Kings’s Fund: permanent programs

The King's Fund, in the amount of $50,000, is a permanent Fund, aimed at covering special expenses tied to recurrent needs of the Institute's research projects. These funds are administered separately and draw interest according to investments devised by the IIMAS's Financial Committee.

The first King's Fund was established in memory of Mario and Maria Buccellati and John and Claire Kelly. It is dedicated to the preservation of our websites in response to future platform changes.
